Data Warehouse

How Does Your Data Become Truly In-Synch And Focused On Your Business Enterprise?

There are very few software vendors in this industry, who take the view that all the chain’s data for all applications should be on one relational database, truly in-Synchh with all the other applications the organization runs regardless of platform.

Midax is firmly in this camp. Midax offers you a CORE Application, an interactive Data Warehouse specifically developed for the single operator up to a strong regional independent chain. All the applications you see on this web site use the same Midax Relational Database Platform.

As modules are added, each becomes part of the entire system managed by the CORE. Change a field in one application and you change it for all routines that use this data. For example, the same customer file we have in Midax Check Authorization is the same we have in the Midax Frequent Shopper Data Warehouse.

Why? Because you need clear, concise and accurate data. You need to produce results without the costly redundant effort required to maintain multiple entry points and correct the resulting errors that seems to always result.

Midax takes the inter-relational concept full circle by navigating through your maze of unrelated software packages to produce one united view of your data, without you having to do the work manually. Saves you time…saves you money.

Better yet….Midax puts the data where you need it, when you need it!

What has happened to all my data?

Here is how we eliminated traditional database maintenance. In Midax, data is not stored in rolled up month to date, year to date buckets, where the detail is lost forever. Instead, data is stored in its original format: free to maintain its relationship with all other data in the original form the data was received or processed.

Why is that important? On a day-by-day basis, you eliminate the admin inside and outside the MIS department painting data white and then black again. Not all data comes in on time. Not all of it is accurate. So having the ability of going back in after the event and making the corrections makes your company reporting accurate. Redefining certain data properties and then running different report views on movement means you can open up your analysis options into what-if interrogation of your data. Just think - no more band aid solutions to reporting and reporting. Imagine being able to believe the figures you see! Report on data no matter where it originates within the organization.

How do I link Midax into my other systems?

Decide that any application extension or any new application will draw its data from that integrated relational database and report back to that database the transactional detail of all discreet actions in that discreet application and what have you done? You have maintained your command and control strategy and reduced interface maintenance to a one to one relationship.

This does not eliminate software release update issues, but it will provide you with a map through the minefield and it takes most of the mines out of the minefield.

Compare this approach to that of most of our competitors, or systems integrators bundling packages from a variety of software vendors, with use and toss txt files, relying on import and export routines that sort of work on a good day. Do you really want to run a multi-million dollar business in this way, with HVRs breathing down your necks?

Standard Reporting

Got the daily and weekly reporting blues? Every week in every retail chain in the country, data in the form of POS transaction files, till rolls, manually generated store reports, printouts from T&A, reports from accounting, excel spreadsheets, data from every corner of the organization is digested by a number of people scattered across the company, while the owners wait on numbers, often displaying minimal levels of patience. Maybe by the middle of the week, reports trickle in.

Slowly but surely owners get information that shows where they were about a week ago, yet even that information is compromised. The manual intervention needed to assemble the reports makes the results dubious and the reports that are actually generated are all to often a compromise between what is wanted and what can be produced in the time available.

Midax takes that all away. Overnight Midax automatically collects, collates and assembles that data and prints out the reports people need for first thing in the morning. At five minutes past eight on a Monday morning, owners already have their reports so they can focus on addressing the challenges and opportunities. Trickle feeds produce information as often as management requires customer tailored to your environment. Fully integrated data flows to your General Ledger accounts without the costly manual effort.

Part of the resilience of the module is its communications and data capture strength. Midax knows where to go to get the data. If it fails it the first attempt, for whatever reason, it keeps trying, assembling and even estimates, if all else fails, It uses the quiet overnight tie to crunch the numbers and assemble the analyses people will be looking for the following day

There are over 300 standard reports in the package, any of which can be printed out according to required parameters at given times of the day and week, so owners and associates have the data they need at their fingertips. Sales to labor reporting? A cakewalk! Gross sales reporting? How do you want it, by department, store? Comparison this week to last week? Or same week last year? All of the above? No matter where the data resides it’s available in the forms required.

Ad Hoc Reporting

One day, when you need to go back and find out what really happened, you will be grateful that all your original data is intact. The devil, as we all know, is in the detail. Like one Midax customer who used the database to recreate scanning reports for billbacks of over a year old, which hadn’t been raised through a combination of clerical error and inaccurate vendor-supplied data.

Or another customer, who used sales movement analysis to discover that the policy of marking down certain product at a given time of day had actually created a market of marked-down product at the expense of full-priced product. Tossing the product made a better contribution to bottom line. When you know what you want to look for, what is the value of it still being there for you to find? Not all business decisions can be made on the back of a cigarette packet. Some benefit from factual research.

In addition, all the data is stored in its original form, Combine this storage with the Midax report engine and now you have a powerful drill-down tools to slice and dice data, compare transactional history over any period with any other period, department, product, class, employee group, whatever you wish. Report on it ad hoc, Save and store the report to make it a regular timed report or export the data in any conventional format into other packages for further what-if analysis.

So now instead of waiting for a subset of the data that you want and compromising on the reporting you need to live within the constraints your clerical capacity allows you, you now have everything at your fingertips.

Run the application as its own unique vehicle for cross platform consolidation, or start to take charge of your future by installing all the Midax Enterprise Suite of applications. Either way you are taking charge of your data, controlling your costs, and increasing your bottom line.
