From Soup to Nuts

Midax customers are a unique breed.

They are successful regional merchants, having grown their chain over 2 or 3 generations from a single store to a local chain that competes very strongly with regional and national players in their local market. They attribute their success to a combination of two things: increasing their customer service levels and driving down operational costs.

They also believe that their way is the best way. And they are right.

Our role in Midax is help facilitate that success.

We see a chain as a single vertically integrated business that needs a software solution to reflect that exactly. We look at the business as a whole, rather than at each application area in isolation. Consequently, we avoid the maintenance hassle chains have when they have software from multiple vendors: as one customer so eloquently put it “one a** to kick!”

We have a common database supporting all our applications in all our customers, but we allow the customer freedom in determining the business logic that uses that data to make decisions. That way every customer can have his own way of doing things. We also allow the customer to tailor the screens, enquires and reports to their precise business methods.

A canned solution will allow you to operate in the same way the next guy does. Our customers don’t want to do that. They want to learn what the next guy is doing, so they can do it better.

Finally we allow our customers to determine the direction of the software. Singly and collectively, they identify better ways of doing things and they have us build those ideas into a product all like-minded chains can share.

Some customers have already invested in solutions they like and want to keep embedded within a Midax structure. We respect that choice and help support it by integrating into the single enterprise solution. Some Midax customers choose a module or two. Others choose a lot more. Some start small and add more modules over time. But since we started the company, we have replaced many of our competitor's products, from EFT payments processing in all its forms to loyalty, gas processing, to back office and data warehouse. At the same time, none of them has ever replaced a single module of Midax, anywhere. 

There are no multiple versions of Midax. There is a current version only, whether you bought it last week as if you had bought it, when we first started in the USA, 10 years ago. That version encapsulates all the ideas and improvements our customers have brought to the product. There are therefore no upgrade costs and no migration costs. We maintain the same platform in every customer, so our software is very stable and the 7*24 support team very responsive.

There is a lot said in the software industry that serves this sector about “best of breed”. Our customers are the "best of breed". They present us their needs and we hone Midax accordingly. Midax is thus the quintessence of the best of the ideas from the best of the breed.
